Have you always wanted to play the drums? Are you looking for a fun way to develop your concentration, focus and coordination? Maybe you would like a way to slow down from a too-busy schedule and work on your mindfulness? The drums can be all of this and more!
You know how beneficial learning music can be.
But you might have some concerns. Cost, noise, a limited amount of time, or you think you don’t have rhythm…
I have worked with many, many students and this is what I have found:
Low cost to start up. The equipment needed to start and begin studying the drums are basic - just a set of sticks and a drum pad. (And we will be able to discuss this further in the introductory lesson).
The drum pad is virtually silent! As are the many affordable options of electronic drums. These are the perfect option for any home.
The most effective practice sessions are 5-10 minutes a day. We will spend time discussing how to plan out your practice sessions each week. You won’t have to spend hours and hours working on your drumming (unless you want to!) to see results. Effective time management is another skill we will develop.
Everyone has rhythm naturally, and everyone can learn how to play the drums. The phrase “Practice makes perfect” is true! The more you do something, the better you will be - it is as simple as that. I am here to make sure that your practice time is as effective as possible and that you are having fun while doing it.

About me
I am a Saint Paul based drummer, composer and educator. I have a long history of drumming (nearly 3 decades worth), starting back in my childhood (hitting pots and pans) and continuing through countless hours of practicing, performing and presenting what I know to my roster of students.
I love music, and have had the pleasure of learning about many, many types of drumming - Jazz, Rock, Pop, Funk, Drumline, Orchestral, Mallet Percussion, Djembe, Conga, and Musical Theater. All of these combine to proved the unique musical perspective I offer to my students.
I am able to create individual curriculum based around the interests of the student, anchored in technical know-how and the joy of playing music.
